There's only ONE Raw...

Maybe it was the hot crowd. Or maybe it was just because they put on a good wrestling show. Raw was alright on Monday and seemed to successfully build to Survivor Series and also to next week's Raw at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

• For starters, they had a guest host who the fans treated like a megastar — England's favorite boxer, Ricky Hatton, who also did not treat the duty as a chore. He actually bothered to know what he was talking about and performed well. I heard faint sing-alongs of "Hatton Wonderland." His boxer vs. wrestler match against Chavo Guerrero seemed like it would be a joke, but they treated it legitimately. For the first time since the guest host concept began, Chavo was allowed to be legitimate. I enjoyed the use of Ricky Hatton on Raw. We have a guest host on Raw next week who we know can get the job done in the incomparable "Rowdy" Roddy Piper.

• Alicia Fox's win over Kelly Kelly was a mere backdrop for telling the fans that Fox will challenge Mickie James for the Divas championship next week on Raw from MSG.

• Speaking of MSG, here's some irony for you. Irony of ironies: "Burn it to the Ground" by Nickelback, the new Raw song is the goal song for the NHL's New York Islanders and it will debut in the home of their archrivals, the Rangers at Madison Square Garden next week. Ha!

• Sheamus beat the heck out of someone who was not named. Saying that Jamie Noble might retire does put Sheamus over a good deal.

• So much for Jack Swagger's winning streak. It seems like it would have been too much for them to keep up anyway. Why The Miz, the captain of the Survivor Series team, would want to cost Swagger a match to Evan Bourne is beyond me.

• I like the five-man teams this year. They are really utilizing a lot of the young talent.

If you missed them, they are:
• Team Kofi (Kofi Kingston, MVP, Mark Henry, Christian & R-Truth) vs. Team Orton (Randy Orton, Ted DiBiase, Cody Rhodes, CM Punk & William Regal)
• Team Morrison (John Morrison, Shelton Benjamin, Matt Hardy, Evan Bourne & Finlay) vs. Team Miz (The Miz, Jack Swagger, Sheamus, Drew McIntyre & Dolph Ziggler0
• Team Mickie (Mickie James, Eve Torres, Kelly Kelly, Gail Kim & Melina) vs. Team McCool (Michelle McCool, Layla, Beth Phoenix, Jillian Hall & Alicia Fox).

• I liked the VIP Lounge segment, as they looked like they were really trying to portray Kofi Kingston as a breakout star. Now, the next step is making him seem like one in the ring, when he is in there with Randy Orton. I'm not really sure what portraying the heels as common street thugs was supposed to intimate or why DiBiase keeps reminding everyone how loaded he is. Either way, it added some luster to an otherwise mundane Orton-Henry match, whic Orton won, of course.

• I don't really know or care about Hornswoggle's involvement in the Raw main event for Survivor Series, but I thought John Cena did an awesome job, laying out why the WWE and World Heavyeight Title matches were so important at Survivor Series. Shawn Michaels and Triple H are friends, but Cena knows full well that HBK can superkick anyone to get to the top. Also, mentioning that Jerishow are not really friends and just business associates who would rip each other apart, was a nice touch.

The match, itself, was pretty darn good and instead of having a juvenile doofus doing commentary, we had John Cena actually putting the talent over (imagine that), and a clever finish of Show causing another match-ending knockout this time, accidentally knocking out Jericho for Michaels to grab the pinfall.

This leads us to next week's main event from The Garden: DX vs. Jerishow vs. Cena & Taker. That sounds like a nice build-up to Survivor Series.

Tomorrow's ECW sounds like it is worth watching: Christian defending the ECW title against William Regal (in England) and Paul Burchill putting up his ECW roster spot (and Katie Lea's) against the mask of Hurricane (in England).
